In each of our projects, SIPS experts invite global participation and conduct ethical research in our vision to bridge the gap between academia and practice. A "pracademic" with both academic and practical experience as analyst, manager, trainer and entrepreneur in intelligence and security in South Africa, Africa and the US.

International Relations and Political Science background with a MPhil (Information and Knowledge Management) from Stellenbosch University (ZA) and a Professional Doctorate in Security Risk Management from the University of Portsmouth (UK).

Taught Intelligence Studies from 2022 to 2024 at Mercyhurst University (US).

Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Buckingham University Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS).

Dr Brooke Shannon

Eleven years of experience as a professor of intelligence and security studies.

Practical experience as an intelligence analyst in the United States Air Force, as a security information analyst for the United Nations, and as an anti-terrorism training consultant for the U.S. Department of State.

PhD in Information Science and Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri, MA in International and Comparative Politics from Wright State University, and a BA in Psychology from Columbia College.

Dr Leslie Guelcher

Nine years’ experience as a professor of intelligence and security studies.

Practical experience as a teacher/coach; as a market and competitive intelligence analyst for local, regional, and national enterprises; as a consultant completing intelligence analysis and strategic assessments; as an anti-money laundering analyst for Chase Bank; and as a manager for anti-fraud- and anti-counterfeiting-teams of analysts, working with U.S. based Fortune 50 companies.

Doctor of Criminal Justice from California University of Pennsylvania, Master of Science in Applied Intelligence from Mercyhurst University, Master of Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Marymount University.​

Dr Vira Ratsiborynska

Ten years of practical experience as a contractor and consultant in support of NATO entities and EU institutions.

Academic experience as a professor and trainer in Europe and worldwide.

PhD from the University of Strasbourg, France, Master’s degree in EU Studies from the College of Europe (Belgium) and a Master's in Political and Social Studies from Sciences Po (France).
